bully, NOT the correct word!!!
That's right, Bully is the wrong word. I would group all the words: Bully, Bullying, Bullied, etc and say they are all just softer words/descriptions/modus operandi for assault and/or criminal harassment, depending on whether it's a physical or verbal altercation. When someone is called a Bully, it's almost expected that it will continue! We give it a name like Bully, as if it's a job description! When if you cut to the quick, again if it's physical or verbal, it's either assault or criminal harassment! The mindset, or I should say the mind sets, needs to be changed. In most cases the Bully just sees it again as a job description, as no different than tying one’s shoes. Instead of tying one shoes they go out and assault a kid or adult, right? And it is not just our youth that are affected. It can happen with adults: In the workplace, institutions, recreation facilities, etc.
Oh yes, we wear pink or some other type of clothing for anti-bullying, we have anti-bullying days or months, and we have campaigns against bullying, but as long as it's treated as a continued long-term effect and not assault or criminal harassment, how in the God's name is society going to beat this thing??? IT WON’T!
I have stopped using the words Bully, Bullying, Bullied, and all the other B words thrown in there that goes with it, because it's criminal conduct! Yes, even if it's involving juveniles, it's criminal conduct!!! Treat it as such! That is the first correct step. Follow it through with punitive and/or tactical action against such assaults! The Soft Approach is NOT working!
Those are my thoughts and feelings on the subject, and I'm sticking with it!
